Andrea Jansz is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law degree. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Business (Port & Terminal Management) from the Australian Maritime College. She is a New York State licensed insurance broker and, having passed the New York bar exam, was admitted in 2006.
She is also a Certified Permaculture Designer.
Andrea commenced her career as a law clerk in Hong Kong then practiced law in Sydney, Australia, for six years before joining a large Australian insurer as Marine General Counsel.
In 1997 she moved to New York, where she worked for a top marine insurance broker then as risk manager to a local operator of bulk carriers prior to joining The Spencer Company.
The services she offers our clients include claims management in general, with a particular emphasis on cargo; contract wording reviews, including insurance policies, charter parties and contracts of affreightment; preparation of claims procedures and manuals; and litigation management.

Jonathan Spencer began his career in London in 1977 with an international average adjusting company. He moved to New York in 1978 and has lived here ever since, becoming a US citizen in 2006.
In 1984, he became a Full Member, by examination, of the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States.
In 1996 he joined a major Australian marine insurer and opened a New York office for them. Two years later, when this underwriter decided to concentrate its operations in London, Jonathan returned to full-time average adjusting, this time for his own account.
A modern languages major, he deals extensively with the Latin American shipowning market as well as North American, European and Asian shipowners. Besides traditional average adjusting, he does extensive expert witness work in the fields of marine insurance practice and general average and is an active member of the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States, serving on that organization's Executive Committee; he is a non-lawyer member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, chairing that organization's Committee on Marine Insurance and General Average; and occupies the US seat on the General Council of the International Association of Average Adjusters (formerly AIDE).
He was a member of the US delegation to the CMI Conference in Sydney that adopted the York-Antwerp Rules, 1994, and represented the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States at the Vancouver conference that adopted the York-Antwerp Rules, 2004.
