DMC's Casenotes
English barrister David Martin-Clark posts new legal decisions in England and other jurisdictions, at DMC's Casenotes, rating them on his personal scale where:
- C= existing law Confirmed
- D = existing law Developed
- R = existing law Reversed.
The notes are divided into sections including Shipping & Transport, Insurance and Arbitration and Jurisdiction. This is one of the few websites where you will enjoy free access to up to date decisions. On the Main Page of the site you can join a mailing list to be notified when updates are added to the site.

Marine Insurance Act 1906
The English Marine Insurance Act of 1906 is an important codification of the common law as it existed as of that date. The Act formed the basis of similar codifications in a number of Commonwealth countries.
You can view it here in HTML format at the UK National Archives and download the official version here as a PDF file.

York-Antwerp Rules
The current versions of the York Antwerp can be found on our General Average page.
I gather from my colleagues in the International Association of Average Adjusters that the 1994 Rules are far and away the most widely used. Indeed, even the more active London adjusters have seen less than a handful of cases under 2004 Rules. The experience in the US is that the oil majors are incorporating them into their standard charter party forms and that they are preferred by those US government agencies that ship with commercial carriers.
